Emping Melinjo is a popular snacks/crackers, uniquely originated from Indonesia. It is often served as a snack or accompaniment to Indonesian dishes such as gado-gado, soto etc. Emping crackers have a beautiful flavor with slight natural distinct bitter taste.
Melinjo or Belinjo is scientifically known as Gnetum Gnemon. These plants are grown in many regions in Indonesia, mainly West Java. Melinjo are generally harvested twice a year, between May – July and October – December, and then processed further.
The production is mostly done in home industry scale, traditionally handmade in a labor-intensive process, before it becomes the snack that even US President Barrack Obama agreed that "its ENAK!" (Read: Delicious!). Apart from its superior taste, many researchers also agree that the emping melinjo has many health benefits as it also contained antibacterial and antioxidative agent.
Kayu Manis' emping are imported specially from the good quality producer of emping in Indonesia. You can enjoy these delicious crackers during the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, available in sweet and spicy flavors.
